Extravagance

I think I have developed a fascination for extravagance.

The skirt I created after seeing a gorgeous photo of a lace and tulle skirt online. I didn't really want to work with tulle though, but I love lace and after spending the morning thrift shopping with my sister on Saturday, I got to work making the above lace confection Sunday afternoon from re-purposed curtains . I don't have a dress form, nor have I ever made a skirt before, so I used my art easel (I had to improvise) instead. It sort of worked. Enough that I could pin on the chopped up curtains and start to sew. Most of it, minus the top hem was actually hand stitched, all the gathers at least and the green lace. It was a lot of fun to do and I really like how it turned out.

The necklace I made about a week ago. It is over the top and heavy and massive, but I sort of love it. Its crazy, quirky. I want to sell it, but at the same time I want to keep it.... oh what to do....

Button me up!

I've gotten a lot of amazing buttons over the past few months from my mother in law who graciously finds them at garage sales and thrift shops for me. I use them on clothes of course, but lately I've been dying to try them out on some jewelry creations. These are the results.

It's actually a lot of fun! I am having fun experimenting.

Thoughts?!

Treasury!

I was included in this amazing treasury on etsy today.

I absolutely love some of the items in it...and now my fingers are positively itching to buy things.

A little bit Wild

Sometimes I'm a bit crazy. Funny little ideas in my head that are over the top and wild. Yesterday I had an idea to make a necklace....

I used about all the different types of materials I could find and ended up with this creation. I'd like to think its fun and funky and definitely unique and perhaps just a tad bit insane. I am not sure where I would ever wear it (Other than of course some photo shoot or another should the opportunity arise) , but my hope is that there is someone out there that will have a use for it.

My next project is to make up a simple light box so I can photograph things properly. Any suggestions?!
